Q: What is the AVANCE Box Exchange program?

A: In early 2026, we will be transitioning our ATG network to newer LTE technology. This transition will bring great advantages to your aircraft, as we’re constantly seeking ways to add more value to our AVANCE customers: AVANCE L3 customers will see a 40% increase in performance, and AVANCE L5 customers will see a 10% improvement on top of the already great performance today. There are a portion of existing AVANCE customers that need to replace their AVANCE box in order to maintain connectivity at the time of network transition, due to early boxes not having LTE-compatible aircards installed.

Q: How do I know if I need to exchange my AVANCE box?

A: It’s our goal to let you know directly, but you can also easily identify if your AVANCE box needs to be exchanged by looking at the serial number – if your serial number ends in an “E” you do not need to take any action. You can find your serial number through the DASH portal by viewing the Equipment Maintenance tile. It’s also visible on the LRU GUI page; we’re also happy to help over the phone – just call us at +1 303.301.3278, Option 3.

In simple terms, if your serial number ends in “E”, you are all set.


Q: How do I get started?

A: Work with your preferred dealer, who can submit an exchange request on your behalf. Or, if you have access to a certified maintenance facility with in-house expertise, just submit this form to request a replacement AVANCE box, which will be sent directly to your facilities.

Q. When will my replacement need to be completed by?

A: By the end of 2025, as our LTE network transition will complete in early 2026.

Q. What happens if I don’t complete by exchange by the deadline?

A: If you don’t replace your AVANCE box before the LTE network transition is complete you will lose Gogo connectivity.

Q. How will my service change after the box exchange is completed?

A: There will be no immediate difference when your box exchange is completed. However, new LTE-ready AVANCE boxes will receive a 40% (AVANCE L3) and 10% (AVANCE L5) performance boost when the LTE network transition is complete.

Q: What if I want to upgrade to AVANCE LX5 instead?

A: Great! You can get started on your path to Gogo 5G today by provisioning your aircraft with AVANCE L5 (if you don’t already have an L5 installed) and MB13 antennas. When you provision prior to 5G availability, you can receive a $30,000 MB13 antenna rebate on top of additional promotion savings.

Q: Why do I need to exchange my box if it’s already working?

A: Gogo is transitioning its legacy Air-to-Ground (ATG) network to newer, more powerful LTE technology. This transition will bring great advantages to all AVANCE customers: AVANCE L3 customers will see a 40% increase in performance, and AVANCE L5 customers will see a 10% improvement on top of the already great performance today.

Gogo AVANCE boxes manufactured prior to mid-2021 won’t be able to connect to the new LTE network once it is activated in early 2026. Therefore, customers with these AVANCE boxes need to replace their box with an LTE-supported box to ensure they can connect to the LTE network and enjoy the boost in performance.

Q: Can I do the box exchange myself?

A: Yes, if you run a flight department or have access to a certified maintenance facility with in-house expertise, you can perform this exchange yourself. Complete this form to request an exchange box, which will be shipped to your facility directly. If you do not have access to an FAA-certified (A&P licensed) technician, you will need to work with your preferred Gogo-authorized dealer or MRO to complete the exchange. Adding this service to an already scheduled maintenance event would be your best option.

Q: Will I need to pay anything?

A: Gogo will ship your new LTE-supported AVANCE box at no cost to you. Extenuating circumstances may incur costs depending on the condition of your old AVANCE box, in which case we will contact you.

Q: How long will it take to receive my new AVANCE box?

A: We will ship your new LTE-supported AVANCE box to your preferred dealer within 5 business days of receiving your request.

Q: What needs to be done with my old AVANCE box?

A: Please ensure your old AVANCE box is sent back to Gogo Business Aviation, accompanied by the RMA we’ve issued to you or your dealer when you requested your exchange, within 30 days of the installation of your new box. If you are working with a dealer, they will return your old AVANCE box on your behalf. If you conducted the box exchange yourself, please return the old AVANCE box and address it to the address listed on your RMA form.

You must ship back your old AVANCE box within 30 days of activating the new one, or you will be charged for the cost of the system.

Q: What happens to the warranty on my current AVANCE LRU?

A: Your warranty will carry over as it stands to your new AVANCE box. For example, if your warranty has 12 months left on your existing AVANCE box, the same 12 months will apply to your new box. If your box is out of warranty, the replacement AVANCE box we ship to you will include a 90-day exchange warranty.
