A: Gogo C1 is a form-fit replacement for legacy ATG systems (ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, or 5000) that connects to Gogo's 850MHz Licensed Network (both EVDO and LTE) at a similar connectivity experience.
A: "A Bridge to AVANCE" - A legacy ATG system customer wants to go to AVANCE but cannot complete the upgrade before the LTE transition in early 2026. Keep them on the path to AVANCE.
A: No, the Gogo C1 is not an AVANCE system.
A: November 2024
A: Gogo C1 will be certified and PMA’d in November 2024 with full system interchangeability available in January 2025. Boxes may be available sooner based on customers’ configuration.
A: The Gogo systems that are compatible with Gogo C1 are:
A: Software is updated via LRU Web GUI with a maintenance computer connected to the aircraft LAN/WiFi network. We are planning 2 software updates:
A: 3 total (2 LAN, 1 LAN OR WAN OPTION).
A: The Gogo C1 will have similar performance as a legacy ATG system today, with no performance boost due to the LTE network transition.
A: Same as a legacy ATG system.
A: Connectivity starts at 10,000ft AGL.
A: The Gogo C1 service plans are:
A: For current ATG 1000/2000 users – yes. For current ATG 4000/5000 users – no.
A: The Gogo C1 has a 12-month warranty included.
A: The Gogo C1 will support 25 devices.
A: Each legacy ATG system installation should be reviewed with the Gogo C1 Interface Control Drawing (ICD) and Installation Manual (IM) as some re-pinning may be required. The existing tray, omni directional antennas, wires and cabling are reused. The existing cabin telecommunications router (CTR) can be reused. The Gogo C1 utilizes the same connectors and has the same power requirements and power pins.
A: To activate new equipment, record the following information and call Gogo Customer Service at 1.303.301.3278 – Customer Name, Aircraft tail number, Gogo C1 serial number, and ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, or 5000 serial number (the unit being replaced). To facilitate a test flight, Gogo is providing a complimentary ATG data uasage period of 3 days after Gogo C1 activation.
A: MSRP = $35,000
A: The LRU part number is P62000-001.
A: Nothing else needs to be ordered for hardware. But we are planning 2 software updates (one in January 2025 and one in mid-2025).
A: Some of the benefits of upgrading to AVANCE include:
A: No.
A: Yes. This is a temporary product intended to help customers transition from a legacy ATG system to AVANCE, but we have not yet determined the date that we will stop selling Gogo C1.
A: No.
A: No, the Gogo Galileo antennas are not compatible with Gogo C1. Customers need an AVANCE system onboard to get Gogo Galileo.
A: No, Gogo will not be covering any labor costs for the Gogo C1 installation.
A: Yes, those customers are still eligible for the $35k buy back promotion as it is tied to the Gogo C1 for that aircraft, not the original purchaser.
A: Customers will need to fill out a promo form prior to installing an AVANCE system to qualify for the $35k trade-in rebate. The rebate will take 4-6 weeks to process once the Gogo C1 is returned and the AVANCE system is activated. The promo form is not live yet, but Gogo will send out communications when it is.
A: No. Gogo C1 is not allowed for new installs (customers without legacy Gogo ATG connectivity). In fact, an AVANCE L3 Plus (net rebate) is actually cheaper for a new customer. And theoretically for a new install, they would have to buy and install the omni antennas and all the other legacy ATG system infrastructure. So, not only is the AVANCE L3 Plus a better connectivity solution, it’s cheaper to buy and install.
A: For most customers, they will reuse the Cabin Telecommunications Router (CTR) as their WAP. Gogo will not supply any additional WAP solution as part of a Gogo C1 system. Customers should be made aware of the risk associated with the ongoing utilization of obsolete hardware (like the CTR) to maintain their Gogo connectivity. This is obviously a potential selling point for AVANCE.
A: Gogo C1 must be the DHCP Server supplying IP addresses to the wireless clients.
A: No, UCS or SCS is not supported with Gogo C1.
A: No, ST 4300 is not supported with Gogo C1.
A: No. Even though the legacy ATG LRUs have two (2) A429 Tx ports, our LRUs are ARINC receive only – this also maintains Gogo’s non-critical flight status with the FAA. The Tx port functionality was included to support expanded product features/benefits that were never utilized.
A: Customer discrete wiring will have to follow the Gogo C1 Installation Manual to make appropriate changes from 2-wire to 1-wire discrete lines.
A: A Gogo C1 replacing a legacy ATG system with an ACM will require a “new” config upon install. Aircraft owners/operators will need to configure their C1 system after replacement of a legacy ATG system with the same Gogo ATG necessary ARINC429 settings and special ethernet setting. Note: The ACM is not used with a standalone Gogo C1, but other Gogo devices may use the ACM on Gogo Cabin LAN. Not requiring an ACM frees up one of the three ethernet ports on the C1 to support other customer installed devices.
A: Yes.
