Q: Why should a customer upgrade from Gogo C1 to AVANCE?

A: Some of the benefits of upgrading to AVANCE include:

  1. Upgrade to AVANCE before the end of 2028 and Gogo will buy back customer’s Gogo C1 via a $35k trade upon installation and activation
  2. AVANCE users get connectivity at 3,000ft AGL vs. 10,000ft AGL
  3. AVANCE users will see a boost in performance on the LTE network
    1. AVANCE L3 provides an immediate performance improvement over a legacy ATG system today and will gain a 40% performance boost on the LTE network
    2. AVANCE L5 provides an experience 3x more powerful than a legacy ATG system today and will gain an additional 10% improvement on the LTE network
  4. AVANCE users benefit from over-the-air (OTA) software updates (not through USBs or manual download)
  5. AVANCE users have a streamlined path to Gogo Galileo
  6. AVANCE users have access to Gogo Vision
  7. AVANCE users have access to SmartShield
  8. AVANCE is sustainably built so you can trust that your system will work now and in the future

Q: Can the $35k buy back promotion be combined with future AVANCE promotions?

A: No.

Q: Will Gogo stop selling Gogo C1 at some point in the future?

A: Yes. This is a temporary product intended to help customers transition from a legacy ATG system to AVANCE, but we have not yet determined the date that we will stop selling Gogo C1.

Q: Will Gogo C1 stop connecting to the LTE network after you stop selling it?

A: No.

Q: Can a Gogo Galileo antenna (HDX or FDX) be added to the Gogo C1?

A: No, the Gogo Galileo antennas are not compatible with Gogo C1. Customers need an AVANCE system onboard to get Gogo Galileo.

Q: Will Gogo be covering any labor costs for the Gogo C1 installation?

A: No, Gogo will not be covering any labor costs for the Gogo C1 installation.

Q: If a customer bought a plane with a Gogo C1 installed and wants to upgrade to AVANCE prior to 2028, are they still eligible for the $35k buy back promotion?

A: Yes, those customers are still eligible for the $35k buy back promotion as it is tied to the Gogo C1 for that aircraft, not the original purchaser.

Q: How can a customer start the process for the $35k trade-in rebate?

A: Customers will need to fill out a promo form prior to installing an AVANCE system to qualify for the $35k trade-in rebate. The rebate will take 4-6 weeks to process once the Gogo C1 is returned and the AVANCE system is activated. The promo form is not live yet, but Gogo will send out communications when it is.

Q: Will Gogo C1 be available for new installs?

A: No. Gogo C1 is not allowed for new installs (customers without legacy Gogo ATG connectivity). In fact, an AVANCE L3 Plus (net rebate) is actually cheaper for a new customer. And theoretically for a new install, they would have to buy and install the omni antennas and all the other legacy ATG system infrastructure. So, not only is the AVANCE L3 Plus a better connectivity solution, it’s cheaper to buy and install.

Q: What is the Wireless Access Point (WAP) solution for Gogo C1?

A: For most customers, they will reuse the Cabin Telecommunications Router (CTR) as their WAP. Gogo will not supply any additional WAP solution as part of a Gogo C1 system. Customers should be made aware of the risk associated with the ongoing utilization of obsolete hardware (like the CTR) to maintain their Gogo connectivity. This is obviously a potential selling point for AVANCE.

Q: Besides the Gogo Cabin Telecommunications Router (CTR), how do I know if a 3rd party wireless access point (WAP) solution is compatible with the Gogo C1?

A: Gogo C1 must be the DHCP Server supplying IP addresses to the wireless clients.

  1. The most common configuration is the WAP bridges wireless clients to the LAN port of WAP which is connected to the LAN port of the Gogo C1. Gogo C1 is the DHCP server for the WAP and wireless clients (all wired and wireless clients on the LAN/Cabin network).
  2. A less common of a configuration is that the WAP must be able to configure 1 to 1 Network Address Translation (1:1 NAT’ing) of wireless clients on the WAP’s LAN port to the WAP’s WAN port that is connected to the Gogo C1.
  3. The Gogo C1 will supply the WAP’s WAN port with an IP address. The Gogo C1 will supply IP address for each 1:1 NAT’ed wireless client on Gogo’s network.

Q: Is UCS or SCS supported with Gogo C1?

A: No, UCS or SCS is not supported with Gogo C1.

Q: Is ST 4300 supported with Gogo C1?

A: No, ST 4300 is not supported with Gogo C1.

Q: I understand that the Gogo C1 has no ARINC Transmit (Tx) capability. Does that mean some legacy ATG ARINC Tx functionality is lost going to Gogo C1?

A: No. Even though the legacy ATG LRUs have two (2) A429 Tx ports, our LRUs are ARINC receive only – this also maintains Gogo’s non-critical flight status with the FAA. The Tx port functionality was included to support expanded product features/benefits that were never utilized.

Q: I understand that the Gogo C1 uses "1-wire" ARINC style discretes vs "2-wire" on legacy ATG systems. Can you explain?

A: Customer discrete wiring will have to follow the Gogo C1 Installation Manual to make appropriate changes from 2-wire to 1-wire discrete lines.

  1. If a customer is using 2-wire discretes with their legacy ATG system, when the C1 is installed as a replacement, they will need to re-wire their aircraft to use ARINC-style discretes instead.
  2. Input discrete lines will be "ACTIVE HIGH" in Gogo C1 (matches legacy ATG).

Q: I understand that the Gogo C1 does not have an Aircell Configuration Module (ACM). How does the Gogo C1 get its configuration?

A: A Gogo C1 replacing a legacy ATG system with an ACM will require a “new” config upon install. Aircraft owners/operators will need to configure their C1 system after replacement of a legacy ATG system with the same Gogo ATG necessary ARINC429 settings and special ethernet setting. Note: The ACM is not used with a standalone Gogo C1, but other Gogo devices may use the ACM on Gogo Cabin LAN. Not requiring an ACM frees up one of the three ethernet ports on the C1 to support other customer installed devices.

Q: Is the Gogo C1 compatible with a pre-existing legacy ATG Side Rail Mount (P14290)?

A: Yes.

Q: Who should I contact with questions?

A: Your Gogo Aftermarket Channel Sales Representative can help answer questions. Also, please reference the Gogo C1 Installation Manual and ICD.
